Instagram Cast & Crew
Credit where credit's due

Instagram is almost unrecognizable from its early days. First off, it’s primarily a video platform since Reels has gained popularity. Also, there are so many ads. It’s not a very fun platform to use, though it has a lot of utility (I use it to collect and explore recipes, but I know everyone has slightly different use cases). It’s amazing to me how much an app can evolve with thoughtful work by a dedicated product team.
As someone who now does some sponsored content, I’m aware of how many people can touch a piece of work before it gets posted. To be clear, I still design all of my unhinged interfaces, but I’ve seen other influencers work with a large team to produce content.
This is starting to bleed over to how traditional film crews work.
To the end, what if Instagram forced disclosure for every aspect of a post’s production? This would be extremely annoying for small influencers, but it would force large influencers to give credit to their team.
This isn’t necessarily an unhinged idea, but rather an interesting one. It’d shift how we create and consumer content on Instagram, but it’d provide a lot of visibility.
