Instagram “Dad protection” feature for DMs
You never know who's watching
Sending someone a cold DM on Instagram is risky business. I technically met my wife in person before DM'ing her on Facebook to ask if she wanted to go bowling, but that's a story for another day.
Regardless, people are unhinged and thus will send others insane things via DM. This is especially true for single women out there who deal with this the most. An added layer of protection can be helpful, but sometimes keeping your account private just won't cut it.
For those of us who want to heavily moderate our inboxes, what if there was a way to share our incoming messages with a third party?... Introducing, IG DM "Dad protection". Potential messengers could get a warning that all incoming communications will be screened by their parents.
Okay, maybe this adds too much friction, but I'd venture to guess people would think twice and be more respectful when sliding into your DMs if this existed.
