Instagram individual analytics

Instagram has completely transformed from what it used to be. Long gone are the days of posting low quality sepia photos of your pals at a party. The algorithm is hyper optimized (though now you can control it, which was a feature I had an idea for a while back…) Instagram, do I get a bonus?

Anyways, this got me thinking about people who lurk and use Instagram regularly but never engage with any content other than viewing it. This is literally me. What if these people were exposed when visiting their account. You could see how many of your posts they’ve seen and how few they’ve interacted with.

This would likely stir up a lot of conflict and not net out much in terms of positive outcomes. I could see people getting into fights and also having to like things they don’t actually like, which would mess with their algorithm. It’s an interesting idea that the most prolific posters would want but I don’t think anyone truly benefits from it.
