Instagram minimum engagement level
Of your account self-descructs
Social media is weird. I have public accounts for my unhinged designs with tens or hundreds of thousands of followers, but my personal accounts have around 100. People were designed to have a maximum of 150 people in their lives, so I guess this makes sense. However, the internet doesn’t work like this and it’s somewhat normal for people to have thousands of followers and try to manage a relationship with them.
On the other hand, some people have old accounts that they’ve either abandoned or only use to check posts from others. These accounts sit, collecting dust and taking up server space for companies like Meta. This got me thinking… what if there was a way to detect low-engagement accounts and automatically delete them after a certain amount of time? You could set arbitrary engagement goals to help people grow and save their accounts if they’re interested.
This assumes a lot on behalf of the user. However, if Meta was trying to aggressively cut costs this would be one very public way to do it.
