Instagram shows why you follow someone

Everything tends towards chaos. This includes our own social sphere. When you go from middle school to high school you often make a new group of friends. The same is true when you enter college, join the workforce, get a gym membership, etc. Our group of friends constantly evolves.

The unfortunate byproduct of this is a social media feed that can get… weird to say the least. You’ll see someone posting a photo of their brunch and not remember how you know them.

It would genuinely be helpful to get contextual reminds for why/how you know someone you haven’t interacted with on the internet in a while. What if Instagram added a “How do I know this person?” section on someone’s profile?

Yes, it would feel pretty invasive and overreaching from a privacy perspective, but at this point I’ve accepted that privacy is very hard to achieve in the modern day.
