Instagram Stealth Unfollow

Unfollowing people on social media is awkward. You never know how to address the conversation when someone inevitably calls you out the next time you see them in person.

Thankfully I don’t have to deal with this because 1) I don’t follow many people and 2) I don’t unfollow people very often. However, I know this is a pain point from how many conversations I’ve had with people about it.

This got me thinking… what if there was a way to “stealth unfollow” someone on Instagram? You could swap yourself out for a random user and the person you followed would be none the wiser. That is until they actually look at who follows them and don’t see you there.

I’m guessing this would cause more harm than good, but in the short term, I could see a lot of people using this feature. Then again, I guess you could just mute someone.
