For those who are a little too patriotic

As I write this, I’m sweating from a slight fever, my dog is howling, and fireworks will not stop going off. I’ll be the first to admit that I enjoyed the occasional firework show as a kid, but as an adult, it’s become a lot less fun. This is probably partly because I’m extremely sick, but also because it drives my dog insane.

One of the strange byproducts of fireworks on the Fourth of July is that everyone thinks they are having a unique experience watching fireworks and thus feel compelled to post an absurd amount of them on their story.

I think the best way to address this is a pre-specified limit, and a temporary ban if you exceed that limit. There’s definitely a layer of irony since we’re celebrating a holiday predicated on independence, but I for one think there can be too much of a good thing.
