"Why are you looking at my old photos?"
If you use Instagram, you’ve likely been in a situation where you accidentally liked an old photo. This is awkward, embarrassing, and impossible to undo. It’s unfortunate that they haven’t introduced my proposed feature to pay to undo deep likes, but I’m holding out hope it gets shipped one day.
In the meantime, if you can’t get notified undo a like, we should think about the person on the other side of this interaction. What if there was a way to get alerted if someone gazes at an old photo for too long? All you’d need to make this work is tracking for when someone is on a certain photo, and for how long.
This is extremely invasive and would be super creepy to see for some accounts. Given how much Meta has pushed for privacy in the past few years (and how much people would have this feature), I doubt it’ll ever get built.
Have a friend who’s crept on someone’s Instagram and accidentally liked a photo? Send them this newsletter. https://sorens.beehiiv.com/
