iOS 26 Alarm

Wake up sleepyhead

With the new iOS update that recently rolled out, Apple dropped a million new features. One that hasn’t made the rounds on the internet until more recently is their updated Alarm Screen. Previously, the snooze button was big and centered on the screen, while the button to turn off the alarm was much smaller.

Now, they are both enormous. Like, take up a 3rd of the screen together, enormous.

“If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” might be a beneficial phrase for some product teams to ingest into their vocabulary. It’s a bit shocking to me that this design made it into the beta, but there must be something I don’t have full context on.

I digress. What if we took the new design and dialed it up to 11, making it much harder to turn off the alarm? I imagine the snooze button could take over half the screen and shutting it off requires holding the button for at least 20 or 30 seconds. This would unironically be a great way to qualify intent. Maybe there’s something to this?
