iOS 26 Safari but it's usable
Why are buttons all glassy

If you aren’t terminally online, you might be unfamiliar with some of the changes coming to Apple’s newest operating system. They’ve been slowly rolling out a “glassy” UI system, despite significant feedback from the accessibility community. One of the biggest changes is happening in Safari. Right now, it’s either a fixed top or bottom bar, but they’re moving away from that to floating, glassy buttons.
I’ve been an Apple fan and user for over a decade. This change feels unnecessary. My unhinged “idea” for today is… if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. I conceptually grasp the move Apple is making in terms of how they design their hardware across different surface areas, but I don’t necessarily agree with it.
This (and many other concepts) likely wouldn’t help my chances of getting a job at Apple, but seriously, why are we changing this UI? It’s one of the most heavily used components of the iOS ecosystem, and it’s not broken. If anything, this makes designing for different websites more difficult because it affects where and how you can place UI elements. I digress, the only constant is change.
