iOS Alarm disable snoozing for someone else

WAKE UP SLEEPYHEAD

Waking up is hard. It’s especially hard when you’re working off a 6 month deficit.

Yesterday I unknowingly hit snooze 4 times. I’d like to take a moment to apologize to my lovely wife, who puts up with my snooze shenanigans, even though I know they must be extremely annoying. Hoping to have dug myself out of this sleepy hole soon so that I’m not chronically snoozing in the future.

This got me thinking about the current experience of setting alarms. One would expect that setting an alarm is intended for the user setting it, but it fails to consider the implications of alarms for the surrounding people.

What if there was a way for users to block snoozing for people they sleep with? This would be extremely annoying for people who like to snooze, but people with partners that wake up early would love this feature.

Broadly speaking, the idea of inserting a lightweight social layer, or even family sharing, into alarms is super interesting and could create some helpful interactions and accountability around waking up.
