iOS Alarm Temporary Snooze Lock

Wakey wakey

Good morning (or afternoon, or evening, depending on where you live). Today, yesterday, and the day before that were all late nights. My team and I are midway through a big final push before the holidays. Thankfully, we’ve gotten to the point where we’re organized enough that we can operate like a normal business and be closed for two weeks over the holidays. It’s an understatement to say I am very excited.

The back-to-back late nights are reminiscent of this summer, though I must say I have less gas in the tank than I did then. It’s caught up with me.

As I wake up every morning to my unrelenting alarm that I snooze at times, I wonder how to satirize or iterate upon Apple’s existing functionality. What if there was a feature where alarms were on and couldn’t be turned off for at least 5 minutes?

I can see a lot of people getting very angry and simply destroying their phones (or just switching to Android). Alternatively, people would find ways to soundproof their phones to get a few more minutes of sleep.

It’s amazing how tiny shifts to existing functionality can completely upend the user experience.
