iOS Disable Speakerphone in Public
Please, keep your voice down
Good morning and happy Thursday.
I will be the first to admit that yes, I have been guilty of using speakerphone in public "(albeit very sparingly)”. There’s a uniquely chaotic feeling that comes when someone is willing to talk loudly into their phone in a public place. Frankly, I think it’s time we put a stop to this.
What if there was a way to geofence the use of speakerphone based on your proximity to other iPhone users? Even if this was a good idea, which I’m not sure it is, a huge issue would arise with getting accurate location data when you’re talking in a matter of feet or yards rather than a fraction of a mile.
Separately, older devices have less accurate location-tracking capabilities than modern devices. This all adds up to a subpar experience for everyone. Regardless, I do still wish people would refrain from public speakerphone use unless absolutely necessary.
Know someone who can’t stop using speakerphone?
