iOS option for a friend to answer
***we have an incoming call
It seems I only get busier as my career progresses. This has been a forcing function to make me communicate effectively with few words. I guess that’s a fancy way of saying "being busy helps you get to the point faster”.
I get a fair amount of inbound emails. While I read every one, my brain would probably explode if I tried to respond to all of them. This has led me to work with an assistant. I began trialing this over the past few weeks and now I’m wondering why I didn’t start doing this sooner. From scheduling travel to helping prepare contracts, having an extra set of hands is invaluable as my schedule gets crazier.
Even though I have great help, I still get an absurd amount of inbound calls. Some of these are calls I want to take (friends and family) but many are spam. This being the case, my current operating procedure is to not answer a call from an unknown number. This is a horrible policy. It’s led me to miss important calls from prospective clients, insurance agents, etc.
This got me thinking… what if you could forward calls to friends who aren’t busy? In a way you’d be creating a fractional custom service org for yourself. This isn’t inherently a bad idea, but I’d venture to guess it would create more loose ends than it would resolve. I like to imagine there being no rhyme or reason to the forwarding logic. It just chooses someone from your contacts.
This packaged as a service could be interesting, but for now it’s just a wild idea.
