iOS option to record someone else's screen
"I'm keeping an eye on you"
As a designer, I use Apple’s screen recording feature a lot. It’s super helpful to share prototypes, capture reference material, and debug things with engineers. It’s delightfully simple too, especially considering how hard it used to be to record, edit, and share videos.
Apple is great at simplifying complex experiences. Recently, they’ve also designed a great system to share information, be it texts, location, photos, health info, and even finances.
This got me thinking… what if there was a way you could get just a little more insight into how friends and families live their digital lives?
You can imagine a world where when you go to create a new screen recording, you are prompted to select whose screen you’d like to record.
I have no idea if this is technically possible, but if it was immediate chaos would ensue. Relationships would be torn asunder. People would be constantly paranoid about whether or not someone was watching them. It’s the pièce de résistance of privacy invasions, and thus will likely never get built.
