iOS option to set alarms for other people

Rise and shine!

A few months ago, I would’ve told you I was a morning person.

Oh, what a difference a few months makes.

Since I’m often up until the early morning hours working on any number of things for my agency, I find myself sleeping in later than I used to. I guess 8 or 9 am isn’t late for some people, but it is for me. On weekends, I sleep however late I need to so I can catch up on sleep after a long week.

Coincidentally, my wife has gotten in the habit of hitting the gym before work. I respect the ability to rise and grind (and to be fair I rise and grind, just on a laptop instead of with barbells), but it’s tough going to bed a few hours before the person next to you wakes up up.

This got me thinking about iOS and its alarm functionality. It’s easy to set a consistent sleep and wake-up time, though it’s harder to stick to a predetermined bedtime. I wonder what would happen if you could force compliance with schedules by allowing other people to set alarms for you?

This would ruin friendships, relationships, and more. I can imagine kids getting mad at their parents, friends being more than mildly annoyed, and spouses fighting if this existed. At the same time, it could be a good way to get the people you care about out of bed. I doubt Apple will ever build this (for obvious reasons), but it’d sure be entertaining if they did.
