iOS pinned notifications

Lately, I’ve been at capacity in terms of my ability to respond to people. It stinks. I barely have time to respond to friends and family, much less some inbound leads that come through my door. If you’re one of the thousands of people who’s DM’d but haven’t received a reply… it’s not you, it’s me.

Sometimes, you urgently need to get ahold of someone. In theory, you could call them or a person they might be with, but that’s not a guarantee you’ll get through to them.

This got me thinking about the ability to pin a message (much like one does in Slack). What if it was possible to pin a message to someone else’s home screen to make messages more urgent?

On one hand, this would be a very effective way to emphasize a message you’re trying to send to someone. However, it would likely get annoying if you have multiple people or the wrong person doing this to you. I can imagine people I don’t particularly want to talk to using this more than they should.

I’m sure there’s a reason Apple hasn’t allowed this to date, but it’d be fun to watch the chaos unfold if they did.
