iOS Practice Alarms
Get back into the swing of things
The new year is here and people are getting back into their routines. Work is kicking back up, as evidenced by a deluge of promotional and work emails hitting my inbox the last few days. As much as I’d like to continue sleeping in and enjoying time off, time waits for no one and I have to return to the grind.
This means I can’t sleep in as much as I have for the past few weeks. I’m hopeful I’ll still be able to sleep in on weekends, and I’m going to be cutting my ideas back to weekdays only for my sanity starting this weekend (don’t worry, I’ll still do them every weekday).
As I started to restabilize my sleep schedule to be normal times I was thinking about the iOS clock app’s alarm functionality. What if Apple Intelligence could detect when you’ve deviated from your standard sleep schedule and made efforts to help you get back on track? For example, it could prompt you to set a practice alarm so that you can start waking up early before everything kicks into full gear next week.
People would hate this, for obvious reasons. I want to get as much sleep as I can before resuming my regularly scheduled insanity, and I don’t need an app to set alarms for me. However, Apple's “intelligence” is trying to do this in some ways (with varying degrees of success). I’m not sure people love the new wave of “smart” tech being implemented on our devices, though to be fair this is the dumbest our phones will ever be.
