iOS snooze to delay flight

Necessity, the mother of invention

Early flights are rough. I personally don’t mind them when traveling solo, but it’s hard with a group of people. No one wants to talk at 5 am, but you have to communicate to coordinate basic activities (get in the car, are we getting coffee, did you bring your phone charger, etc.). This was especially top of mind to me, as I’m writing this email at the airport after waking up at 4:50 am and getting to the terminal a bit too early.

The alarm this morning was rough. What if it didn’t have to be? Imagine a world where snoozing an alarm delays your flight’s takeoff time by a few minutes. There’d have to be some sort of charge, but it’s an interesting thought experiment to give the end customer this much control.

This would immediately wreak havoc on the airline industry. Flight schedules would be completely messed up, and the sleepiest people would call the shots. From a pure human coordination perspective, I don’t see a way to implement this functionality. I guess in theory this already exists, but you have to fly private, which I won’t be doing any time soon.
