Monetize every feature possible
Back in the good old days of flip phones, we had to type everything out letter by letter. It was a lot of work and stuff like T9 (some of you might be too young to know what that is, which is scary) saved so much time.
As autocorrect continues to get better, I find myself getting lazier and lazier. More often than not I let myself spell stuff horribly and then let my phone do the work of figuring out how to actually spell things. The same is true for this newsletter, but I use Grammarly.
A faithful newsletter reader suggested an amazing idea to monetize this feature: sponsored autocorrect suggestions. Imagine if you type pizza and it suggests Domino’s. Apple has done a great job of building out its app store ad network, so why not continue to push downstream and encroach on our daily conversations?
There’s a world where this could actually be pretty useful, but another where it just feels invasive. I’m not sure how to feel about this one.
