iPhone 2 minute warning

I use my phone a lot more than I thought I would in the year 2025. Most of my calls are relatively short, but sometimes I’ll be trapped on the line for an hour or more. These moments have been clarifying in that they demonstrate the level of my introversion. I don’t want to be on the phone with anyone for 2 hours, it’s exhausting. However, sometimes you have to just grin and bear it.

This got me thinking about professional football (and other sports) games and how they issue a 2-minute warning when the game is nearing the end. What if there was a way to issue a similar warning on phone calls?

In a game, there are rules so it’s normal to hear the 2-minute warning. Given that there are fewer social norms on phone calls, this would be jarring. Also, since the warning is more than likely being issued to 1 person, this is a thinly veiled way to tell someone to stop talking.

This could be a lifesaver in some of those late night conversations, but I doubt it ever gets built due to how offensive it would be to some people.
