IRS Direct Pay taxes with organs

Taxes are the actual worst. Thankfully, for the first time in years, I am actually ahead of the curve in terms of getting my 2025 return handled, but still, getting paid and then having to fork over functionally half of it to the government is… not fun. Yes I’m aware taxes help fund many good things, but they also fund bad things. It’s frustrating.

Anyways, enough ranting about taxes. Thankfully I’m in a position where I saved enough to pay my taxes. This got me thinking about years prior where I freelanced and didn’t necessarily have the funds needed to pay on time. What if there were an option to pay with organs instead?

This is dark. Like, very dark. However, there is a massive shortage of organ donors and a non-negligible number of people who are egregiously behind on their taxes. This could be a step toward fixing this. Unless there are massive overhauls to the social contract, laws, and a million other things, I can’t see this getting built, but it’s interesting as a thought exercise.
