AI’s impact on the modern workforce is undeniable. We can argue about the positives, negatives, but the progress won’t stop. Between the new company launches where you can talk with deceased loved ones (not joking), almost humanoid robots, and the tens of thousands of people laid off recently by Amazon, UPS, and more is a hint at what our future might look like.

Throughout this process the workforce will continue to be disrupted. Manual labor will continue to get automated, as will entry level software jobs. There’s a broader question about what this means in terms of our ability to mentor junior talent, but it got me thinking. What if when you got replaced by AI, you could show this off on your LinkedIn profile? This is interesting because while those impacted would hate it, companies generally crave efficiency wherever they can create it.

I don’t see this ever making it’s way into production, especially with ongoing AI features being shipped by LinkedIn, but it’s a nice thought exercise.
