For managers who are reducing headcount

The job market is brutal right now. Google, Amazon, Meta, Netflix, Microsoft, and more have had layoffs in 2023 alone. It feels like many of my peers are waiting for the shoe to drop. It’s scary.

LinkedIn has a debatably helpful feature where you can add a tag that says you are #opentowork if you’re seeking a job. Managers can add a label that indicates they are #hiring if they need new talent.

But what if we could account for roles that are at risk of being let go? Managers could add a label to their profile indicating they are #firing or even #layingoff to give people a little bit of warning.

No sane person would use this feature. But then again, LinkedIn isn’t exactly the most sane platform out there. The scary thing is some people would use it ironically but some people might seriously use a feature like this.
