LinkedIn game to apply
Promoting product "discoverability"

The New York Times established itself as a gaming company over the past few years. In fact NYT Cooking and NYT Gaming made a combined $282M last year. That’s a lot of money for pasta recipes and Wordle.
In a similar vein, LinkedIn recently rolled out its gaming product. Why on earth a professional social network is launching games is beyond me, but if you want to try it for yourself, it’s available in their mobile app.
A persistently tricky thing for technology companies is promoting the discovery of new features within their software. You can always run an A/B test, but as you get larger, the red tape you need to break through to ship a substantial feature gets more significant.
This got me thinking about natural points of entry for gaming within LinkedIn.
What if, to apply for a job, you had to play a game (and maybe even achieve a certain score)? It would at the least make for a unique job application process. It would also likely distort the candidate pool and index more towards people who are good at games rather than people who are good at their jobs. Sure, there might be overlap, but it’s not a 1 to 1.
If this existed, I would struggle to get a job (am bad at games).
