LinkedIn high school leaderboard
For the late bloomers
High school is weird.
You’re not an adult, but you’re not not an adult. It’s a tumultuous time full of emotions, angst, confusion, and strong feelings. Overall I enjoyed high school. I learned a lot, had a strong core group of friends, and weathered the storm of being a weird but generally likable person. I was not “cool”, as ~90% of my school played a varsity sport and I opted out of sports after sophomore year.
I’d classify myself as a late bloomer. I was awkward, lanky, and weird in high school. It wasn’t until college that I realized there are a LOT of people who like art, music, etc way more than sports. After college, I hit my stride even more and I feel like the last few years I’ve found myself as a person.
Anyway, this all got me thinking about people who peaked in high school and had a hard time entering the real world. I never attended a high school reunion (nor do I plan to), but I wonder what it’d look like if LinkedIn supported this feature.
You can imagine a leaderboard for your high school or college that ranks people based on some “success” algorithm. Alternatively, you could do it by prestige, title, or compensation. This is dark. It would likely make people feel bad, but at the same time, it’d be interesting to compare and contrast the winners from high school vs. real life.
Maybe it could be an April fools initiative for LinkedIn…
