LinkedIn hours worked
Quantifying value
LinkedIn is a truly crazy platform. From people crying after laying off their staff to someone comparing proposing to their girlfriend to enterprise sales, there have been some absolutely wild posts on the platform over the last few years. I think in some ways we never fully recovered from the pandemic.
A constant theme I see with LinkedIn is people posting about how hard they grind or their tactics to achieve success at work. Whenever I see thought leadership like this I ask myself, “How much did the person who posted this work today?”.
To be fair, hours worked is a poor way to quantify the value created, but I think making someone’s timecard a public-facing relic would cause a lot of strife. People who pose as hardworking might be outed as lazy and vice versa.
The big question here is how these numbers and quantified. Is it through a payroll provider or tracked based on device activity? Either way, it feels invasive and they’re never going to make this.
