LinkedIn replace title with total comp

Happy Sunday all.

Job titles are a weird necessity in navigating professional life. Some people care a lot about them, some don’t. Titile is often the first thing people see when interacting with us online. This is especially true on professional networking apps like LinkedIn. People have some truly wild titles. Like Elon calling himself Technoking.

However, title does play an undeniable role in how we get compensated.

What if one day we all decided to deprioritize title and evaluate content based on the income of the person posting? Simply put, we replace title with comp.

This would cause internal chaos at every company who’s employees use LinkedIn, out thought leaders who don’t actually make much money, and really highlight how much higher the US pays than the rest of the world.

It’d be a wild ride, but it’s never gonna happen... Probably.
