LinkedIn replaced by view

See who your successor is

It would seem that layoff season is over… for now. Sacrifices have been made, and headcounts are back up. We can’t be sure how long this will last, but it seems like layoffs typically happen every January now.

An interesting byproduct of being in a company that recently went through layoffs is watching the company start to find a new normal. This means finding people to cover for roles that were eliminated, or in some cases preparing to make new hires. This line of succession is fascinating to me, as it is rarely well documented and there’s no external visibility.

What if you could see this line of succession externally? One could imagine a world where you can see who someone was "replaced by” on their LinkedIn profile. The resentment that this would cause is unimaginable. I understand why LinkedIn would never build this, but the fallout if they did would be incredible to witness.
