LinkedIn see if your employees are applying for jobs

With the ability to fire them or give em' a raise

For a few months, the big tech company layoffs had the entire job market looking pretty dire. It’s still not easy out there for a lot of people, but nature is healing and many of the companies who let people go are now looking for new talent. The irony.

Then you have the people who are currently employed but looking for something new. LinkedIn has that #opentowork badge for potential employees and the #hiring badge for potential employers, but no sane person would publicly state they are open to work while gainfully employed.

It can be helpful for managers to get a sense of how their employees are feeling. Taking this to the extreme, what if as a manager you got a special view into your direct reports profile where you could see how many jobs they’ve applied for with an option to give them a raise or fire them?

I’m no expert in employment law, but I’d venture to guess there are a few legal problems with this. Who’s to say though? At the very least it would make LinkedIn more entertaining for managers.
