LinkedIn see when AI got them the job

Redefining "proof of work"

In the last few years, the market has been flooded with tools that promise to revolutionize our work through the power of AI. Don’t get me wrong, AI is a cool tool, but personally, it’s proven to be less revolutionary than I hoped it might be. It still astounds me that people use AI for writing when you can smell AI-generated writing from a mile away. I digress, it’s undeniably here to stay and is beginning to impact several industries. Many are using it as a tool during their job search, which makes sense given how rigid some hiring systems are at large companies.

This got me thinking… what if platforms like LinkedIn showed when AI helped you get a job vs. when the underlying platform played a role? This would immediately expose people who are using interview and coding assistants, though it’d be an enormous invasion of privacy and a nightmare to track with new apps constantly popping up.

It also begs a larger question around whether or not you should be punished for using the tools at your disposal to achieve a desired outcome. I don’t have a strong opinion on AI overall, but I can feel when candidates use it, especially as a proxy for real writing, and I’m not a fan.
