Lyft layover option
When you have the time, but not the money
Ridesharing apps promise to turn anyone who's willing into a cab driver while lowering the cost on average. I remember 2016-2018 when this was the case. Since then, rides have gotten progressively more expensive to the point where I rarely use Uber or Lyft. Granted, I don't live in a big city.
Similar to booking flights, what if there was a way to cut costs by adding a "layover" option where you had to wait at an in-between point, thus increasing your ride time while decreasing cost?
Whether or not I have access to the flight lounge makes a heavy impact on if I opt for a longer layover when flying. I guess if there was an option to do this with Lyft I might use it in the rare cases where I'm not in a rush or feel okay spending some time wherever the layover location happens to be.
In this design, I'd be stuck at Chili's which feels like a win. However, for most layovers you'd most likely be sitting on a street corner outside a gas station.
