Lyft "please don't talk to me" upsell

Enjoy your ride in silence

Back when I lived in LA, there were a couple of weeks when my car was in the shop. It’s not the most walkable city in the world, but thankfully at the time, Uber pool was still a thing so I could get rides to most places for pretty cheap.

More often than not, my drivers or fellow passengers ended up being quite chatty. I got to meet some cool people during this time. From aspiring musicians and actors to new graduates entering the workforce, it was fun getting to sample a pretty broad set of people and hear how they experience the city of Los Angeles.

However, as I’ve gotten older, the luster of these conversations has worn off a bit. This is especially true when you’re just getting home from a cross-country flight and have an hour-long ride home ahead of you. The last thing you want is a chatty driver.

I’d pay a little extra if I could guarantee my driver would keep quiet at times. It’d be a great way for drivers to make more money too. That is if they can stand the silence.
