Okay, just to clear the air, I’m sorry about the duplicate subject line issue. I changed everything on my end but apparently, Beehiiv changed how they send emails out so it used headlines from a previous concept. Apologies for the confusion, should be fixed moving forward (though I’d appreciate it if Beehiiv stopped refactoring their UI every 3 months).
Anyways, yesterday I woke up to the news that McDonald’s is facing a massive PR crisis due to a E coli outbreak. Gross. I don’t like McDonald’s (why would I eat there when In n Out is within walking distance from my house?), but given how many points some friends have on their app, it seems they have a lot of fans.
E coli is yucky. It’s dangerous (not sure how dangerous), but I wonder what it might look like to increase the visibility around people who contract E coli and how McDonald’s might offer a way to provide temporary relief. What if you could see 1) how many people got E coli from a specific menu item and 2) get upsold you on Peptop Bismol?
McDonald’s would never do this because the app stinks and more importantly they don’t want to create a permanent in-app affordance for an issue that is hopefully temporary. It’d be wild if they did though.
