Netflix trivia checkpoints
If you're wrong, you have to restart

I had the pleasure of seeing the new Demon Slayer movie in theaters this weekend. Yes, I am a nerd. Yes, my wife is the best for seeing this with me. For those who aren’t aware, Demon Slayer is a massively popular anime, and this film might be the first anime to hit $1B at the box office. If you’re thinking of going to see it, keep in mind that there are multiple seasons of context you’ll be missing unless you’ve seen the show (it’s on Netflix).
This got me thinking about how often I’ll “watch” a show but not be fully paying attention. What if there were a way to up the stakes and force people to be more attentive? I can imagine an experience where Netflix has “trivia checkpoints” that ask you a multiple-choice question and reset the show to the beginning of the episode (or the series if we want to be really intense).
This would be a fun optional feature, but an absolute nightmare if it were on by default. I can imagine going to pick up your DoorDash, missing a key scene, and then having to reset the entire show right when you were near the finale. Even if Netflix doesn’t build this (why would they), a trivia feature would be a fun add-on.
