OpenTable prove it's your birthday

Wasn't it your birthday last week?

I had the pleasure of enjoying a wonderful dinner reservation with my wife last night. It was a good way to end the week. We used OpenTable to make a reservation.

As I was going through the reservation process, I noticed you can specify an. occasion. The options include Birthday, Anniversary, Date (which seems weird), Special Occasion, and Business Meal.

I realized tapping through the options you could theoretically say it was your birthday every day and no one would be able to stop you.

This got me thinking… what if there was a requirement to prove your birthday?

In theory, this actually wouldn’t be that hard. You could just ask people to take a photo of their driver's license. To make this a bit more unhinged (and to account for people without a license) I swapped this out for a birth certificate.

My guess is a lot fewer people would say it’s their birthday, even if it was.
