Overtake feature
For the slow drivers out there
Yesterday was consumed largely by travel. The drive from Raleigh, NC to Ocean Isle Beach is not quick, especially on a day with heavy rain and traffic. Now that we’re here though it’s nice and relaxing. You’ll probably catch me taking multiple naps over the next few days, fun stuff.
I was not behind the steering wheel, but you do get secondhand frustration watching the driver ahead of you decide to lock in at 10mph or more below the speed limit. This gets worse when you’re stuck on a one-lane road with no margin for overtaking. Slow drivers drive me nuts because they are such a traffic bottleneck. I can imagine now a slow driver with a caravan of 100+ cars behind them all backed up.
This made me wonder… what if there was a feature where you could overtake people by either sending them a polite lil message asking them to stop or deploying road spikes to make their tires pop?
One of these features is an invasion of privacy and the other is illegal (I think?). That said, this would be a popular option with competitive drivers in areas with small roads and drivers who might tend to be a bit… less aggressive. It’ll never get built for legal reasons idt I need to explain, but still an interesting concept.
