Passive aggressive steps app
Telling you when you aren't active enough
Good morning and happy Saturday.
I've realized lately I'm taking an alarmingly small amount of steps on any given day. I used to work out almost daily, but there are seasons when life just gets busy, you know? Looking at my steps app makes me sad. At the same time, the insights they provide are relatively neutral in tone. They take a data-driven approach rather than making any opinionated statements, which makes sense.
However, what if they integrated your Bitmoji and could get a live view of your weight/health status and provide more... pointed observations. This led me to create the design you see above.
I shared this with a few friends before posting, and one person pointed out this would make them feel more motivated, not less. Everyone draws motivation from different styles and approaches.
On a platform level, it does not make sense for Apple to take an opinionated stance with their product design, but there is room for an app targeted at a subset of the population who wants a different tone from their fitness app.
