Petfinder adopt a recently laid off tech employee

Help them find their forever home

II was hanging out with a friend last night who recently got a new cat. Cats are so cute but I am insanely allergic so unfortunately I have to restrain myself from even petting them (much less adopting my own).

Furry friends can bring us so much joy. I know this as my wife and I adopted a dog about a year and a half ago. He was locked in a bathroom at the shelter he was at because he was really sick, and we think he might not have made it out of there if someone hadn’t adopted him. Don’t worry he’s happy and healthy now.

But enough about my dog. There’s a whole new category that needs care and attention these days: recently laid-off tech employees.

The last couple of years have been extremely challenging on a macroeconomic level. A lot of money was recklessly spent during the pandemic, and now more and more companies are being forced to deal with the reality that they can’t justify employing as many people (or paying them as much given the drop in most technology stock prices).

This got me thinking… what if you could browse Petfinder and “adopt” a recently laid-off employee? There are a million logistics questions here, and I know this is one of my more outlandish concepts. However, some sort of platform to easily browse unemployed people with a specific skill set could have some utility (though it would look very different from this design).
