What are you grateful for?

The holiday season is upon us. In fact, it’s approaching at what seems to be a breakneck speed and it shows no signs of slowing down. How is this week already Thanksgiving?

Thanksgiving is a great holiday. You see people you care about (hopefully), eat a bunch of amazing food, maybe watch a football game, then take a big nap. It’s awesome. I’ll be whipping up a vat of green bean casserole to take to my in-laws Thursday.

Everyone has different family traditions when it comes to Thanksgiving, but one I have sometimes participated in is listing things you are thankful for before destroying some turkey and stuffing. As I was thinking about this tradition, I started to wonder, how might we pull the practice of gratitude into the digital realm.

After a few different ideas, I realized a natural way to ask people what they’re thankful for is through an app like Screen Time. What if, when you hit your screen time quota you’re asked to list a few things that you are thankful for?

This would be a great way to 1. pull people out of zombie mode when they’re mindlessly scrolling and 2. help people remember things that they’re thankful for while navigating their digital world. This is one of my more wholesome concepts rather than unhinged.
