See how many unread messages they have

And pay to jump the line

I’ve been having a lot of fun working on a new competitive step-tracking app that has a leaderboard component to it. I’ve only got a few people in the TestFlight right now, but so far it’s a lot of fun.

In the spirit of building in public, I’ve occasionally been sharing some screenshots of people on the leaderboard. It’s a great way to generate interest, unfortunately, it also means my DMs on most social networks have become basically unusable.

Conservatively, I probably have maybe 3 or 4 hundred unread messages floating around. It’s a good problem to have, but as someone who tries to reply to everyone I feel bad.

I know when I reach out to someone and they don’t respond I always feel a little let down. However, I’m guessing if I saw how many unread DMs they had this would be different. So what if we just did that? It would help people calibrate their expectations. In addition, you could have a paid way to skip the line if the issue really is that important.

Everybody (kind of) wins, right?
