Slack "Ghost Mode"

Act like you're doing your best work

Happy Tuesday all!

I've been using Slack for over half a decade now, but I only recently realized how poorly I understand the nuances of the app. I'm not great at notification management or setting a status, but hey, I've made it this far haven't I.

Given the often performative nature of conversing in a corporate context, I wondered if there was a way to use generative AI and automation to help you "participate" in the workforce.

Introducing "Ghost Mode".

Ghost mode randomly pops into channels for you, shows that you are typing, and auto-generates responses with AI. Of course, you still need to verify that you're okay with sending a messages before it goes out.

This idea really made me stop and think because on one hand it could pretty easily exist, but on the other hand it would only increase the value of real, human interaction. Generative AI is great for a lot of things, but I'm not sure work is one of them.
