Slack watch them type

Pass the anxiety from the receiver to the sender

Happy Tuesday all.

I've made a few fake Slack features now, but for a while I've wanted to do something that plays more directly on the "{user} is typing..." indicator that you get when someone is responding to a DM or thread.

This can be incredibly anxiety inducing for some people, and for those who don't get anxious, there's varying degrees of utility to this. If someone drafts a message and doesn't hit send it's a lot of buildup for nothing.

To that end, what if we passed the anxiety from the reader to the author?

For the reader, there would be a CTA to "watch" when you start typing. If the reader taps that button, the author might see something like this.

Immediate chaos would ensue, and then most likely people would just stop using Slack to write messages. They would just copy, paste, and send.

It'd be a wild ride for a bit though.
