Spotify depressing free plan
Fine, I'll upgrade

When my band played their final show last week, we got to choose our lounge and walk out music. It’s always fun when you get the aux cord and 300+ people are forced to listen to your crappy taste in music. Fortunately for the audience, there’s a limit on how long you can get away with this.
I was talking with some friends at the show about venues that refuse to pay for Spotify Premium. Hundreds of people will mingle to house music, only for an ad to come on and kill the vibe. I understand the music industry has thin margins, but skipping Premium is a poor decision.
This got me thinking about the free plan on Spotify, and how one might make it even more suboptimal. What if the plan had a cap on the number of songs you could listen to? You can imagine a world where someone is stuck listening to a single Sabrina Carpenter song on repeat until they upgrade.
Spotify has no reason to do this to their customers, but I bet artists would like the temporary boost in streams they would see as a result.
