Spotify Parent Plan
Play Baby Shark just one last time
As a kid, I remember listen to “Joe Scruggs” casette tapes in the car (yes, I am not young, but to be fair I’m not old either). My parents were the pioneers when it comes to listening to the same thing over and over again. Hats off to them.
In our modern era, almost any song can be accessed instantly. This comes in handy when your kid wants to listen to baby shark for the 800th time, but everything in life is a double-edged sword to some extent (you are able to easily listen to a song hundreds of times).
What if this access was intentionally throttled by platforms like Spotify? You can imagine a new “Parent Plan” where you pay to unlock unlimited plays on certain songs.
If a platform hoarded IP, this would be a dark, but effective way to make money off desperate parents. I can see many people I know paying an enormous amount if the situation becomes desperate enough.
