Spotify prioritize artists legal name

Happy Monday all.

Sadly (for me, at least), I finally ran out of ideas for Mike's Hard Mondays. Maybe something will come to me in a vision one day, but for now I must move on.

That being said, I was listening to a fair amount of Lana Del Rey this weekend. I didn't realize this til I read more about her backstory, but apparently her real name is Elizabeth Woolridge Grant? Cool name, but definitely doesn't roll off the tongue as smoothly as Lana Del Rey.

A lot of artists use a stage name. It's common practice. What's not common practice is to reveal the real name to their audience. But what if Spotify prioritized their legal name and added a small annotation with their stage name? Macklemore's real name is Ben Haggerty. Again, a fine name, but much harder to brand as a musician. This would cause a some confusion for fans and a lot of frustration for artists. However, it would also be pretty funny to see who people really are.
