Starbucks watch them make your drink

Only 1 pump of syrup please1

I used to go to Starbucks a lot. This was primarily driven by convenience, though the seasonal drinks are fun as well. However, as I’ve gotten older (and started to consumer less sugar), my affinity for black coffee has grown. That plus proximity to a really good local coffee shop near my office means that I only go to Starbucks if someone else is or I have an hankering for an egg nog latter (this is rare).

The drinks at Starbucks are wildly complex to produce and their default recipes are way too sweet. A grande drink does not need 4 pumps of peppermint syrup, but I guess the general public disagrees with me. This got me thinking about Starbucks mobile ordering experience. To ensure they make your drink to your liking, what if you could watch the process live and provide real-time feedback?

This would be a logistical nightmare on so many levels. Imagine trying to make 4 drinks simultaneously and then they all call you asking for additional modifications. I don’t see a world where this gets made because it’s a nightmare for baristas, though being able to make post-purchase modifications (and being able to tip the barista) would be nice.
