Surprise Alarms

A new kind of wake up call

I’ve had some pretty late nights the last few weeks and the alarms have been particularly tough to wake up to as of late. Back in January, I introduced the idea of “share alarms”, where everyone in a group would need to wake up in order for the sound to go off.

This is great, but what if you want to wake up someone in particular, but you might not want them to know? Sure, you could give them a literal wake up call but they’re more than likely going to have their phone off. This led me to create “surprise alarms” where you could notify friends when it’s time to wake up.

This in and of itself is a nightmare, but let’s take it a step further. Instead of simply snoozing, how about you gift the alarm to a friend in order to stop it? This would create a chain reaction that might wake up… everyone?

I’m not sure how/if this is technically possible, but if it is I’d love to see it get implemented as a proof of concept.

Have a friend you constantly need to wake up?
