Thanksgiving Terms and Conditions
What CAN we talk about
Tomorrow is Thanksgiving.
It’s one of my favorite holidays because you can chill, eat good food, and reflect on things you’re grateful for. This doesn’t happen enough in the shuffle of the day-to-day, and it’s good to do a hard reset and think about the people in our lives who mean a lot to us.
It’s also an emotionally tumultuous time. People are generally unhinged, leading to many tense conversations around the dinner table. Thankfully, my family gets along with each other and we’ve largely avoided any discord around the holidays, though I know this is not the case for many families across America.
This got me thinking… is there any way we could avoid this tension? What if there was a terms of service agreement you needed to sign before sitting down for Thanksgiving dinner?
Realistically, this might cause more strife rather than alleviate it. Also, people don’t read these agreements so they’d inevitably miss something and get unceremoniously booted out from dinner. That said, I think this could be huge for people who are good at compartmentalization.
