Ticketmaster priority exit access

Got places to be? No problem.

This past weekend was awesome. I got the chance to take my dad to see his favorite (American) football team play on the home field. We spent the weekend in Kansas City eating barbecue before enjoying some great seats in what turned out to be a not-so-great game for the Chiefs. Oh well.

If you’ve never attended a pro football game it is truly a sight to behold. 75,000 other fans all congregate to tailgate and then watch the game in the stadium. Getting into the game was relatively straightforward albeit a bit chaotic.

Getting out was another story.

We foolishly assumed there would be some sort of process for directing cars out of the parking lots. Boy, were we wrong. It turned out to be a chaotic free-for-all. It ended up taking us probably 30 to 45 minutes to get out of the lot. Not terrible, but very disorganized.

We tried (and failed) to catch a dinner reservation afterward. This got me thinking… what if there was an upsell within Ticketmaster where you could force everyone to wait to leave the game until you do? It could be called priority exit access.

Yes, this would be next to impossible to enforce, but some people would likely pay a pretty penny for it.
